“Motivation should be sought in work, not in whether or not we will have World Cups” – biathlete Tsvetkov

russian biathlete Maxim Tsvetkov told he was focusing on the training process, stressing that there should be no questioning whether the Russians will be allowed to participate in international competitions next season.

Sergey Bashkirov’s group, of which Tsvetkov is a part, held an open training session in Toksovo (Leningrad region) on Monday. At least a hundred spectators watched the athletes.

– How do you like such an unusual open formation?

– This is good, and to a greater extent – for the fans. We often visit different cities in Russia, and such meetings are held extremely rarely. I think it is very necessary. It is only good for the development of biathlon. Here, moreover, the children could watch us.

– Were you interested?

– Of course, additional excitement was definitely present.

– How are you preparing to prepare for the season in the current situation?

– The main thing for me is the training process. Motivation should be sought in work, not in whether or not there will be championships and World Cups for us.

In March, the International Biathlon Union (IBU), following the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions under its auspices due to the situation in Ukraine.
