The mentor of the men’s biathlon team is pleased with the performance of his players in the opening race of the 2024 World Cup
Head coach Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Juraj Sanitra commented on the performance of his players in the mixed relay at World Championship 2024 in the Czech Nove Mesto, and also discussed the choice of lineup for the sprint race.
“In general, regarding the start at the World Championships: if you look at our current state, seventh place is very good for us. We fought against strong teams who brought out the best they had.”
“Artem Prima completed his task 110%, because after a bad start in Brezno-Osrbli, I ordered him to get ready. He was prepared very well, he lost 27 seconds with his legs, this is the result that was the maximum for him. As for Pidruchny, he had one miss, but he did not have such optimal skis during the descent as Artem. Dmitry also fought and coped with the shooting. I think that the guys worked to the maximum of what they could. I think that from this position we can move and prepare for the next competitions.”
“I can’t yet say the composition for the sprint, but I am sure that the weather will be better than in the mixed relay. You need to shoot very well, because without good shooting it is difficult to achieve a good result. Anton Dudchenko? I think he will 100% be at the start. In general, I will look between Artem Prima, Taras Lesyuk and Denis Nasyko, two of them will take the start. I’ll see how Prima has time to recover from this load; for me he is promising for both the mixed singles and the relay.
Let us remind you that the 2024 Biathlon World Cup started on February 7 with the classic mixed relay, which was won by the French team. The Ukrainian team took seventh place, using eight additional rounds. The blue-and-yellows were represented by Artem Prima, Dmitry Pidruchny, Yulia Dzhima and Irina Petrenko.
Competitions at the World Championships will continue on February 9 with the women’s sprint. The men’s sprint race will take place on Saturday, February 10th.
