Mukhamedzyanov: “The idea of giving up everything arises, but then I soberly assess the situation and understand that I love biathlon”

Russian Champion Ilnaz Mukhamedzyanov told that due to unsuccessful results in the first part of the season, thoughts began to arise about the possibility of leaving biathlon, but his family helped him soberly assess the situation.

Mukhamedzyanov’s best result this season is eighth place in the mass start stage of the Russian Cup in Izhevsk. The Spartakiad biathlon of the strongest begins on Saturday in Zlatoust.

— I’m ready for the Spartakiad, we’ve trained a lot. I worked at home in Izhevsk. I think I was well prepared. All competitions are equally important to me: the Spartakiad, the main competition, does not exist. But de jure, this beginning is of course the main thing.

— Have you drawn any conclusions based on the results of the first part of the season?

— First of all, it didn’t work because of my health, because I was very ill. We talked about it with the coaches and doctors. We have done everything possible to ensure that health is no longer a concern.

— Didn’t you want to give up everything when you suffered failures?

— Such thoughts arise, but over time I find myself saying that I love biathlon. I enjoy it and minor failures don’t play a big role in making me quit and finish. Family helps a lot in this regard. I soberly draw conclusions and move on,” Mukhamedzyanov told .

On Saturday, as part of the Spartakiad, sprint races will take place. Watch the live broadcast of the men’s race from 9:30 a.m., the women’s race from 12:15 p.m. on and Match! Arena”, as well as the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
