Roman Repilov, three-time luge world champion, does not believe that Russian athletes will be allowed to participate in international tournaments in the near future.
Repilov, like other Russian lugers, has not competed at the international level since February 2022 due to the international federation’s decision not to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus.
— There is no certainty that we will return to international competitions (smiles). What is faith ? I can believe as much as I want, I just have to be realistic and not think that tomorrow someone will let us out and we will leave. It won’t be like this in a year or two. And if our people are not allowed to participate in these Olympics, then we are probably not going anywhere. But that’s my opinion, people can think differently. And it’s probably true: it’s better to live in hope than in reality. But I don’t expect to go to the Olympics while we are training here,” Repilov said in “Championship”.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. The next Winter Games will take place in 2026 in Italy.
