Dmitry Pidruchny is ready to fight for the post of President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine. The captain of the men’s team himself spoke about it in an interview with the Tribune.
According to the athlete, if he wins, he will end his professional career.
“To be honest, I was offered to participate in the 2022 elections. Just a few days ago, I decided to consent to my candidacy for this position.
I myself could not do this, because only members of the FBU, local cells, submitted a candidate for consideration at the conference.
I have talked about this topic with many athletes. Not everyone, but most support me. I understand that biathletes did not vote. The Athletes’ Committee had only two votes. But it’s important for me to hear their opinion – athletes really want change now.
I reiterate that I decided to try to advance my candidacy a few days ago. The question is not whether I won or not. The FBU is not owned by one person, but a public organization.
If some regional federation wants to nominate a conditional Pidruchny or any other candidate, it has the right to do so, ”Pidruchny said.
