Biathlete Alina Koudisova After completing the ski event at the Spartakiade of the Strongest in Tyumen, she admitted that she would like to be in the top 20 at the end of the race.
On Monday, Kudisova took part in the 10-kilometer ski race at the Spartakiad of the Strongest in Tyumen, the athlete covered the distance in 27 minutes 55 seconds.
— Was your goal to participate in the Russian Cup in order to qualify for the Spartakiad?
— No such task existed. I came to the ski mass start so that it would be my next race, to work on maintaining my functional state. Without the Spartakiade biathlon, I would have found myself without a start for a month. I wanted to run for fun. Of course, the thought was in my head: “Why not?” Apparently my coaches and my skiers had the same idea. We agreed on that. Thanks to my leadership in Khanty-Mansiysk, they came to my rescue and completed all the necessary documents for me to participate here.
— In skiing, the candidacy concerns eight people from the region. Maybe this helped you sign up for the Spartakiad?
“I was surprised that in cross-country skiing, the quota was eight people. There are only five in biathlon. This is probably due to the large number of people. More and more girls and boys are participating in cross-country skiing. They have over 100 people on the start line; in our biathlon at the Russian Cup, God forbid, there will be 50.
— Have your biathlon friends Elizaveta Kaplina and Ekaterina Noskova motivated you in any way? Did you suggest anything? They also participated in ski competitions.
— Yesterday I wrote to Lisa: “Where will I “fall” on this circle? Of course, they supported me. But they started two days in a row. What should I advise them? I know everything myself, I’m not small anymore.
— Biathlon circuits are different from ski circuits. How much more difficult was the ski circuit for you today?
— Yes, the ski circles are much more difficult. The biathlon is only 2.5 kilometers, here there are three more climbs. And these are not just climbs, but functional and steep climbs, on which you need to work on your functional state. Even skiers say that here in Tyumen the circle works well.
— What result would you be satisfied with today?
— I would like to be in the top 20. That would be a wonderful result for me. But the biggest difficulty is that I started at the beginning. “I don’t understand at all how I worked compared to others,” reports the correspondent, according to Kudisova’s words.
The Spartakiade ski tournament takes place from February 9 to 18.
