Johannes Boe on Norwegian domination at the Biathlon World Championships: “A pleasure mixed with horror”

Five-time Olympic champion Johannes Boé commenting on the dominance of Norwegian biathletes at the World Championships in Nove Mesto, said that the athletes are helped by the friendly relations within the national team.

In two men’s individual World Cup races, the entire podium was occupied by the Norwegians. Sturla Lægreid won the sprint and Bø won the pursuit.

– It’s a delight mixed with horror. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. We don’t share our plans with each other, but at the same time we know each other very well, what our strengths are, and therefore what will happen is quite predictable.

We have a big advantage in that we are good friends and don’t interfere with each other. If there were six of us fierce individualists, we’d probably argue quickly. But we are a good team, and it becomes easier when everything is going well for all of us,” Boe quotes SVT Sport.

The Biathlon World Championships in the Czech Republic will end on February 18. The women’s individual race will take place on Tuesday.
