Russian national team biathlete Natalia Shevchenko told that during the 2014 Sochi Olympics she was at a training camp in the Vologda region, where only the goalkeeper had a TV.
On Tuesday, Natalia Shevchenko won the individual race at the Spartakiad of the Strongest in Zlatoust (Chelyabinsk region).
— Now everyone remembers the Olympic Games in Sochi. Where did you watch these Games?
“I was very young at the time, I was 13. During the Olympics, I was in a sports camp in my homeland, in the Vologda region. We didn’t have televisions in our buildings. We watched the Olympics in the caretaker’s house from this little television. We supported all kinds of sports.
I am happy that now we have such a complex in which I really enjoy training and organizing training camps. This is one of my favorite places in Russia. This height suits me very well. I always feel comfortable there, and above all, I feel good afterwards.
— When you watched the Olympic Games, did you want to become a champion of the Games?
– Every athlete dreams of this, especially the little athlete who sits and watches television. At that time, I didn’t even understand who I was rooting for. I was just proud that the Russian team performed so well. Of course, I wish it were the same. I hope one day I can play too,” Shevchenko told .
On Friday, February 16, a mixed relay race will take place at Spartakiad, starting at 1:30 p.m. (Moscow time). Watch the broadcast live on the channel, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
