russian biathlete Igor Malinovsky died in a helicopter crash in Kamchatka, will be buried on July 20 in the village of Milkovo, Kamchatka Territory, the Biathlon Federation of the Omsk region told , quoting the coach of the five-time world champion among juniors.

Malinovsky was at the controls of a helicopter that took off on July 16 on the route Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Caldera of the Uzon volcano. Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt down by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that none of the passengers survived. Malinovsky was 25 years old.

After finishing his sports career, Malinovsky became a pilot and worked in Kamchatka.

Malinovsky is the winner and laureate of the world and European junior championships in biathlon.
