Vasiliev believes that there will be no overall changes in the coaching staff of the Russian biathlon team following the results of the Spartakiad

Double Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilyev told that, based on the results of the Spartakiad, global changes in the coaching staff of the Russian national team should not be expected, but rather they could be tactical.

The senior coach of the Russian men’s team is Yuri Kaminsky, the coaches are Sergei Bashkirov, Maxim Maximov and Pavel Maximov. The head coach of the Russian women’s team is Mikhail Shashilov, the coaches are Artem Istomin, Nikolai Zagursky, Vitaly Noritsyn and Andrei Padin.

— Could there be changes in the coaching staff of the Russian national team based on the results of the Spartakiad of the Strongest? After all, it is difficult to get high motivation from athletes when they have not competed at the international level for several years.

— The Spartakiad is for us today the equivalent of the World Championship. There is a struggle between regions for medals, I did not notice a frivolous attitude towards results among biathletes. Even the Russian Championship this season is not such an important competition as the Spartakiad.

I don’t think that the technical staff of the Russian national team will change overall after the Spartakiad. It is important to maintain the team, but depending on the results, certain adjustments can be made. I think some tactical adjustments are entirely possible. The time without international competitions is an opportunity to experiment, to introduce new techniques, so you need to prepare, because the suspension will end sooner or later, Vasiliev told .
