“A very noble thing to do.” Smolsky – about the decision of the Bashkortostan team to give the relay bronze medals to the Belarusian team

Olympic medalist Anton Smolski told that the decision of the Bashkortostan team to give the bronze medals of the relay at the Spartakiad of the Strongest to the Belarusian team can be called humane, masculine and adult.

On Sunday, the Belarusian team consisting of Smolsky, Pavel Belko, Ivan Tulatin and Dmitry Lazovsky took third place. The Bashkortostan team (Ilya Burlakov, Anton Babikov, Alexander Babchin, Eduard Latypov) finished fourth. According to the competition regulations, the Belarusians competed outside the competition and did not receive official medals. After the relay, the biathletes of the Bashkortostan team decided to present the medals to the Belarusian team.

— There were difficult emotions. Incomprehensible. On the one hand, I looked happy, because these are our medals that we won, but on the other hand, we have already accepted the rules that we are out of competition. It turns out that the Bashkortostan team rewards us with their own medals. I think it’s a very mature, masculine and human act. I would like to do the same thing. Thank you very much that they gave us their medals, and maybe they gave us our medals (laughs). A very noble act. I would like to thank them. We will bring something to the Bashkortostan team in Ufa,” Smolsky told .

The Spartakiad of the Strongest will end on Sunday.
