Coach of the Russian men’s team Yuri Kaminsky in an interview with , he spoke about the nuances of pre-season work and the lack of competition within the training squads.
– If you don’t create a competitive training environment so that there aren’t too many different levels of athletes in the groups, it can happen that the average becomes stronger and the strongest weaker, as they will have no one to compete with. In my group, the guideline for the majority is Latypov . But with whom to compete with Latypov himself, it is not very clear. We try somehow to solve the problem within the group.
– How exactly, if Latypov is the only one of the “tops”?
– He is a leader in many components, but not all. The other day, let’s say, we had a one-on-one shootout. They invited everyone who is at the Rybinsk training camp and is something of himself. The best was Dionis Roduner from St. Petersburg, the second – Daniil Fomin, Latypov – the eighth. Gave a weakness in concentration – lost, you have to make up for it. Functionally, there are also guys who are ready to support him, Sidorov and Eremin, for example. We try to use this factor.
– Latypov spent the previous training camp in Raubichi, and not with your group. Back in combat form?
– Working independently has its pros and cons. He released athletes before, not just Latypov. I expected that in some ways he would look a little worse than the rest of the group. We are talking about ski equipment, on which we have worked meticulously. The lag is small, Eduard got it back, otherwise everything is fine. The main thing is that he did not go overboard with fillers, other points are easier to fix.
