Five-time world junior biathlon champion Igor Malinovsky On Wednesday, they were buried in the cemetery of the Kamchatka village of Milkovo, where the athlete was born and raised, told the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Kamchatka Territory.
Malinovsky, having completed his sports career, became a pilot and worked in his native Kamchatka. He was at the controls of a helicopter that took off on July 16 on the route Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Caldera of the Uzon volcano. Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt down by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that none of the passengers survived. Malinovsky was 25 years old.
According to the Ministry of Sports, a farewell ceremony for the athlete was held in Milkovo on Wednesday morning. Malinovsky was later buried in the village cemetery.
