Biathlete of the Moscow region team Polina Shevnina told that she really wants to win a gold medal this season.
Shevnina became third on Saturday in the sprint of the fifth stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in Ufa. Anastasia Shevchenko was the first to reach the finish line, Tamara Derbusheva finished second.
— What is more exciting: racing the last lap or waiting for your rivals to finish?
– Perform the last trick. I understood: I had to do as much as I could, but it wasn’t enough. The tactics were different: we focused on the first lap, so it happened like that. But overall I’m satisfied. A second behind second place before moving on is good.
— You’re getting closer to first place, but you just can’t win gold. Do you really want it?
– Oh, I don’t even know how to describe it in words. I beat around the bush. It’s mentally hard. I hope some gods hear me and luck turns my way, because… well, how much fun can you be kidding? (Laughs)
— Luck is not on your side now?
— I am a maximalist. Yes, bronze is also cool, but I strive for the maximum result, so I really want to win gold, ”Shevnina told .
