Biathlete Zhurauskaite changed her citizenship from the Russian Federation to compete for Lithuania

Russian biathlete Lidia Zhurauskaite’s request to withdraw Russian citizenship has been granted, according to decree the President of the Russian Federation.

As stated in the text of the decree, the Head of State granted Žurauskaite’s request to renounce citizenship.

Žurauskaite decided to change her nationality in October 2021. Then she said her goal was to compete in the 2026 Olympics in Italy.

The 23-year-old athlete will compete for Lithuania. Previously, Zhurauskaite represented the Murmansk region, her great-grandfather was Lithuanian.
