Winner of the European Biathlon Championships Pierre Pachchenko told that his poor performance during the season could be because he was thinking a lot about his family and not about the sport.
In February, Pashchenko and his wife Alexandra welcomed a daughter, Sofia. At the fifth stage of the Alfa-Bank Cup of Russia in Ufa, the biathlete took fifth place twice – in the sprint and in the pursuit.
— How do you explain the result in Ufa?
— Throughout the season, coaches said: “You are not yourself, your thoughts are constantly at home. » My wife was pregnant. I can’t say that I constantly thought about it and had experiences, but, probably, somewhere in my subconscious I was not into sports. These contradictions led to a lack of concentration, which did not allow me to obtain results.
— When the child was born, did you let him go?
– All this happened when I was in Zlatoust. During the first two days, I had an explosion of emotion: despite the fact that I was very happy at home, I disappointed the team a lot. When I got home, I didn’t feel like training at all. Two days later, I still went out to train, but I could only ride for 30 minutes – I didn’t have the strength. Little by little, he came to his senses. They wanted to skip the first race in Ufa, but the coach said: “Even the worst competitions are good training.” Well, after the “individual”, I had two good days. I think that before the Russian Championship, being in good shape and in a good mood is a plus,” Pashchenko told .
