President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (RFSR) Elena Vyalbe declared that the Olympic champion Veronica Stepanova there are no competitors at the Russian Championship.
Stepanova and Maria Istomina, representing the Arkhangelsk region, won the team sprint with a result of 20 minutes 56.5 seconds. The second place was taken by the first team of the Tyumen region consisting of Tatyana Sorina and Elizaveta Pantrina (+2.8), the third place was taken by the first team of the Republic of Tatarstan consisting of Daria Nepryaeva and Lidia Gorbunova (+4.5). Earlier, Stepanova won the individual free sprint at the Russian Championship.
— Did anything surprise you with the women’s race?
– No. Veronica has no one to compete with here. This is already understandable. The girls are not yet competitors for her. Dasha Nepryaeva is not that level of athlete yet. Stepanova has no competition here,” the correspondent reports in Vyalba.
The Russian championship takes place at the Malinovka ski center in the Arkhangelsk region from March 16 to 24.
