“Strength for the Russian Championship remains, but not so much” – biathlete Natalia Shevchenko

Biathlete Natalia Shevchenko told that on the eve of the start of the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship she felt good, although she no longer had as much strength as at the beginning of the season.

Shevchenko leads the SBR women’s rankings this season. The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship will be held from March 23 to 31.

— First of all, I want to make the most of this weather: it’s finally spring and we can run just in wetsuits. But of course I don’t want to relax, because there are still many races ahead where we have to show results. I will do my best, as always.

— Have you exceeded your maximum physical condition before the Russian Championship?

— I can’t say at all that there was this peak this season. My condition remained stable throughout the season. Now I feel just as good.

— Do you still have the strength for the end of the season?

— Yes, but not as much (laughs) as at the start of the season. I think a lot of athletes would probably like to rest, because the schedule this season is busy. I haven’t missed a race yet. And I don’t want to miss any races; Maybe we will miss the Uvat marathon, but we will definitely go. “I always go to races to show the maximum result,” Shevchenko told .
