Biathletes of the Russian national team, Belarus and regional teams began their official training on Sunday with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall.
On Friday evening, unknown assailants opened fire on the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow. According to the latest data from the Russian Investigative Committee, 133 people died. The Moscow Region Health Ministry reports 154 victims. The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee has opened criminal proceedings regarding the terrorist attack. Russian President Vladimir Putin declared March 24 a day of national mourning.
On March 23 and 24, the men’s and women’s sprint races were scheduled to take place at the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship in Tyumen. Due to the tragedy, the start of the competition was postponed until Monday.
At the “Pearl of Siberia” winter sports center, the flag of the Russian Federation, the flags of the Tyumen region and the Russian Biathlon Union are flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning. The information boards feature the image of a lit candle, the word “We cry” and the date of the tragedy – March 22, 2024.
