The multifunctional training center of the Russian national teams in the Sverdlovsk region will be designed for more than 30 sports, the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture and Sports told . Anton Shipulin .
In December 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to create training centers for Russian biathlon, cycling and speed skating teams in the Sverdlovsk region.
— At what stage is this sports facility located in the Sverdlovsk region?
— There is a project, he passed the state exam, there is a place for the installation. Now we are looking for sources of financing, the project is very expensive. We have a presidential instruction regarding this installation. Most likely, funding will come from the regional budget. God willing, from the federal budget and perhaps from some businesses.
— Do you know when construction will begin, what are the deadlines?
— This year, the region has already allocated money for certain works. The facility is very large and multifunctional. It won’t be built in one or two years. We hope that we will receive approval of the federal budget and together we will start building this sports complex.
It will be the only sports complex of this type in our country, designed for more than 30 sports. This is its particularity. We are used to seeing either a ski and biathlon complex, or an athletics complex, etc. At this facility we plan to implement a biathlon and speed skating complex, as well as football, hockey, swimming and many other sports,” Shipulin told .
