Slivko said she made the decision to take part in the sprint in the Chechen Republic minutes before the start of the race.

Biathlete Victoria Slivko who won the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship sprint in Tyumen, told that she was considering skipping the race due to the temperature.

Slivko won the 7.5km sprint on Monday, becoming the first Cup winner named after three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova among women.

— Was the decision to participate in the race made a few minutes before the start?

– Yes, I went out to shoot, to warm up. In those seconds, I made a decision. I walked the track to see how I could fight. A jumper in a minute and a run in 20 are different things, but many thanks to the service for the cool skis, thanks to me for making it happen.

— Were your doubts about not going to the race linked to the temperature you had yesterday?

— Last night my temperature was 37.4, because of that I was wondering whether I should run or not. Yesterday I felt bad all day. But today everything went very well and so there is no reason to worry – I will continue to run all the races, I hope everything will work out for me,” Slivko told .
