Russian speed skater suspended five years for anti-doping rule violation

Russian speed skater Maxim Kornienko has been disqualified for five years for violating anti-doping rules, reports the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

“The Commission for Preliminary Examination of Cases of Violations of Anti-Doping Rules of RAA RUSADA decided to disqualify athlete Maxim Kornienko (sport – speed skating) for 5 years for violation of clauses 4.1 and 4.2 of the All-Russian rules. anti-doping,” the statement said.

The athlete’s period of ineligibility begins on March 7, 2024, with time served for the temporary suspension, and ends on March 4, 2029. In tests conducted on speed skaters, a metabolite of drostanolone, a metabolite of nandrolone and anastrozole were detected.

In February, 20-year-old Kornienko took part in the Spartakiad of the Strongest, but did not win any prizes at the competition.
