Biathlete Serokhvostov: “Before, the base and reserve were always there, but now almost no team works like that”

Biathlete Daniel Serokhvostov told that it makes no difference to him in which group to train next season, but noted that now other national teams in the world do not divide teams into main and reserve teams.

On Thursday, a meeting of the coaching council of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) was held in Tyumen, where it was decided to introduce the format of the main and reserve teams for the 2024/25 season. Yuri Kaminsky told that he will lead the main men’s team. Serokhvostov left Kaminsky for Artem Istomin’s group, with whom he had been training since 2022.

— Do you understand where you will train next season?

– No.

– Who would you like to go with?

— I haven’t thought about it yet, because the season is still underway, there is still a stage of the Commonwealth Cup ahead of me, so I am training with my team. Why should I think now? I’m still part of the team. They will decide there. If I am admitted, I will be part of the national team; otherwise, I will snowboard. I’m joking (laughs).

— How did you react to the decision to create a main team and a reserve team?

— As an athlete, it doesn’t matter which group I train in. I have no opinion on this subject. Before, it was always like this: there was a main team, a reserve team, from which we took the starting team. It’s just that, as I understand it, now almost no team works like that.

—Are you ready to go to Kaminsky?

— I haven’t thought about it yet. You need to talk to him (with him) first, then tell him if he is ready or not. “I am ready to train with anyone,” Serokhvostov told .

The Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Championships in Tyumen will end on Sunday.
