Biathlete Mäkäräinen, who finished her professional career, won silver at the Finnish Championships

Biathlon world champion Kaisa Mäkäräinen won relay silver at the Finnish Championships.

Mäkäräinen is 41 years old, the athlete finished his professional career in 2020.

— The main reason for my participation is that the championship is organized by my home club. If the tournament had taken place elsewhere, I certainly would not have participated. I didn’t prepare at all. I have shot many times simply because I don’t need to compete completely cold. As for skiing, I am not capable of skiing three days in a row or even two days. In winter, I did little bodybuilding. However, I do not rule out participating in the sprint on Monday,” Mäkäräinen was quoted as saying by Yle.

Mäkäräinen is a three-time winner of the great Crystal Globe. The representative of Finland won gold at the 2011 World Championships in the pursuit race, she also has one silver and four bronze medals at the World Championships.
