The team from the Tyumen region with Loginov and Garanichev won the relay at the Russian Biathlon Championship

The team from the Tyumen region won the men’s relay at the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Championship.

The team included Vadim Istamgulov, Alexander Povarnitsyn, Alexander Loginov and Evgeny Garanichev. The leader’s finishing time was 1 hour 20 minutes 37.7 seconds with two additional laps.

The second place was taken by the KhMAO-Yugra-1 team (Dmitry Ivanov, Nikita Porshnev, Alexey Vagin, Petr Pashchenko). The first team of the Belarusian national team finished next with finisher Anton Smolsky, another relay four of Belarusians took fourth place. Fifth were the representatives of the Novosibirsk region (Pavel Kudryashov, Roman Eremin, Oleg Domichek, Daniil Serohvostov), ​​​​who will receive bronze medals, since Belarusian biathletes are performing outside the ranking.

Garanichev, 36, previously announced he would retire from biathlon at the end of the season. The athlete competed in the Russian national team starting in the 2010/11 season, making his World Cup debut in 2011 in Anterselva, Italy. In 2014, he won a bronze medal in the individual race at the Olympic Games in Sochi and became a three-time European champion.

The relay completed the competitive program of the Tyumen tournament. On April 4 and 5, Uvat will host races of 40 km for men and 30 km for women, where athletes will also compete for the titles of champions of Russia. The stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup will take place in Murmansk from April 10 to 15.
