Biathlete Ivan Kolotov told that next season he will probably join the main Russian national team, which will be coached by Yuri Kaminsky.
Kolotov took third place in the 40 km marathon of the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship in Uvat on Thursday. Earlier in Tyumen he won the pursuit race. Last week, the coaching council of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) decided to introduce the format of the main and reserve teams for the 2024/25 season. This season, Kolotov trained as part of the national team, coached by Kaminsky.
— Did you use a trick today with bags in your shoes to prevent your feet from getting wet?
– No. Turns out that might have been a mistake. My teammate did that, so the bags filled with water, it didn’t go anywhere, it gurgled during the race (laughs).
— Are you very tired after 40 kilometers?
— Consciousness of fatigue arises when standing on a pedestal. My legs hurt and I’m very thirsty.
— What’s the secret to such a cool end to the season?
— I think Yuri Mikhailovich Kaminsky’s preparation has finally reached me. Last year I had a completely different physical preparation. The work we did this summer with Yuri Mikhailovich has only now played its role.
— Do you already know which team you will be part of next season?
— It’s difficult to say, but it seems that I will address Yuri Mikhailovich.
—Have you ever had a conversation with him?
“I spoke to him, he said I met the criteria.
—Is he interested in working with you?
“Yes, I’m interested too,” Kolotov told .
On Friday, a 30-kilometer women’s marathon will take place in Uvat. Watch the live broadcast of the race on the channel, starting at 7:35 am (Moscow time). You can also follow the marathon on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
