Olympic medalist in biathlon Karim Khalili told that during the second part of the Uvat marathon, due to fatigue, he thought about how many times he could miss the shot to be able to stay in the lead.
On Thursday, Khalili won the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship marathon in Uvat. I got to the finish line second Nikita Porshnev third – Ivan Kolotov .
— What is the most interesting thought that came to you today during such a long run?
— In the second part of the marathon, I was driving and counting how many times I could miss without anyone catching me. It has really become very difficult. I thought: “So, if it really knocks you out and it becomes difficult on the turn, what will happen in such situations? But then I pushed those thoughts away.
— Have you studied mathematics?
– Yes (laughs).
— When you made two mistakes at the penultimate shooting range, did you panic?
– No. I understood that the reserve would remain for more than a minute, which is still correct. On the last line, even if I only hit one, I could still fight (laughs). I was calm.
— All season long, you win where the biggest prizes are awarded. What do you think about this and aren’t you tired of these conversations?
“I don’t interfere with anyone’s preparation for the main competitions.” They were announced to everyone. It’s probably not my problem. I ran well all season in terms of speed, but at the start of the season I often fell out of the fight on the last stage. Now I have acquired my shooting skills and am able to occupy higher positions.
— Have you ever calculated how much you earned during the season?
– No. I’m just trying to enjoy the race. Now I really enjoy myself, regardless of how I walk and the outcome.
— What would you say to people who didn’t come to the marathon?
“It’s a shame they didn’t come here.” I called Daniil Serohvostov and Eduard Latypov. He said it was a very interesting race to take part in, but everyone had different reasons. “Whoever wanted it came,” Khalili told .
On Friday, a 30-kilometer women’s marathon will take place in Uvat. Watch the live broadcast of the race on the channel, starting at 7:35 am (Moscow time). You can also follow the marathon on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
