The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, Vladimir Yakushev, told that the Pearl of Siberia complex in Tyumen occupies first place in the ranking of biathlon stadiums in the world.
The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship took place in Tyumen from March 23 to 31. Previously, Yakushev was a member of the board of directors of the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB).
— Was the Russian Biathlon Championship an alternative to European competitions?
— Let me start with the fact that the Tyumen stadium meets all world standards and is number one in the world rankings. It is clear that facilities have been created here for athletes, spectators and television. Many spectators come to Tyumen for biathlon, and residents of the city and region themselves are professionally mastering biathlon. The organizers, and this is the Tyumen region, always ensure that there is a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium. Thanks to all these aspects, the sports festival here is a success.
— How immersed are you in Russian biathlon now?
— I look, I look, I don’t miss the agenda. I try to watch all the races.
— How did you feel about the return of the main and reserve team format?
— Everything related to creation and movements in biathlon, I think the SBR is going in the right direction. They have experimented, formed different groups, but the most important thing is that they are looking for approaches. The SBR team is thoughtful and young. They are going in the right direction.
— There are also biathletes who have left or wish to go for self-training. Are you ready to support any of them?
— We traditionally provide support. Self-training is a practice that has been practiced since the days of the Soviet Union. When an athlete is experienced, he can be his own coach, good and reliable,” Yakushev told .
On Friday, a 30-kilometer women’s marathon will take place in Uvat, Tyumen region, as part of the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship. Watch the live broadcast of the race on the channel, starting at 7:35 am (Moscow time). You can also follow the marathon on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
