Russian, three-time Olympic medalist Edward Latypov said he would like to beat the Belarusian Anton Smolski in the ranking of the races of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Biathlon Cup.

Latypov became third in the sprint at the Murmansk stage on Thursday. Smolsky finished seventh. In the men’s Commonwealth Cup standings, Smolsky is 25 points ahead of Latypov. The Russian can beat the Belarusian if he does better than him during the mass start on Sunday.

— How did you manage to gain about 20 seconds on the last lap today?

— Is it important for you to compete with Smolsky in the general classification?
