The Ukrainian national team veteran will continue training separately from the team
Ukrainian biathlete Artem Prima said that he plans to prepare for the new season separately from the rest of the team.
“It was a very difficult season and a lot of disappointment due to bad starts. An athlete always tries to give his best during preparation in order to achieve results in winter. I am already an older athlete and I understood that perhaps somewhere I needed to restrain myself more than the guys, because they are younger. But still I tried to give my best, to do it on a level, and in some places even more individually. I understood that the more you work, the better the results will be this season.”
“That is, I was also mistaken, because I thought that this was how it would turn out. At the end of the season, I told President Ivan Krulko that I would like to think it over and decide what will happen next.”
“In the end, I decided to go for self-training, I will train separately from the team. We talked with the president, he supported me in this, and not only him. Now I decided to go for self-training. I will perform, and then we will see how God willing. Now we live in very difficult times, and we’ll see.”
Let us remind you that 36-year-old Prima was not included in the men’s team for the new season. Daria Blashko, who will focus on solving health problems, was not included in the women’s team. Also missing from the list is Elena Bilosyuk, who ended last season early due to knee surgery.
At the end of the 2023/24 season, the Ukrainian men’s team took 11th place in the Nations Cup and lost one quota for the World Cup. In the 2024/25 season, the blue-yellows will be able to field a maximum of four athletes.
