Vice President of the Russian Mountaineering Federation (FAR), international master of mountaineering sports Ivan Dusharin, died at the age of 76, the FAR press service reports.
“Dedication to his work, professionalism of the highest class, incredible kindness, decency – these are only a small part of the merits of Ivan Trofimovich – an undisputed authority for all generations of climbers, an example of courage, patience and endurance. The Russian Mountaineering Federation expresses its sincere condolences to the family, friends, associates and students of Ivan Trofimovich Dusharin, the FAR statement said.
On May 12, 1992, under the leadership of Dusharin, for the first time in Russian history, a national flag was planted on Everest.
Farewell to Ducharin will take place on Wednesday April 24 in Moscow.
