Triple Olympic medalist Edward Latypov believes that the former footballer of the Russian national team Andrey Arshavin exaggerated when he declared that he did not know skiers and biathletes by sight.
On Sunday, the “Football Stars” team, with Arshavin in its squad, defeated the “Stars on Skis” team with a score of 7:6 in a charity football match that took place on Sunday in the region of Moscow. The “Stars on Skis” team included Alexander Legkov, Alexander Loginov, Anton Babikov, Eduard Latypov and others. After the match, Arshavin told that he didn’t know who he was playing against in this match.
— I liked the way we played. At first there was a bit of noise, then things calmed down. We had to make good on our chances.
– They didn’t give in to you, what do you think?
— There is perhaps a little ease in their game, but you have to ask them.
— Andrei Arshavin said he doesn’t know anyone from your team.
— It seems to me that he knows it, he’s just exaggerating (laughs).
— Did Arshavin impress on the pitch?
“At the beginning of the match there were serious runs, but then, apparently, I was tired, so I was not as active as at the beginning,” Latypov told .
The match was hosted by presenter Andrei Romanov. All funds raised were used to purchase sports equipment for children’s biathlon and cross-country skiing schools.
