The Italian ended her season early after the World Championships in Nove Mesto due to illness.
Famous Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer announced that she would continue her sports career until Winter Olympics 2026which will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
“It would be a shame to end part of my life like this, not being able to give 100%. And I want to continue until the Olympics in Milan and Cortina.”
“This is not an easy choice. because many sacrifices will need to be made. But I have already planned my training and started training with my group and people I trust.”
Due to illness, Wierer ended the season early after the 2024 World Championships, which took place in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, in February. The Italian took a break from her career, and in the summer she will work as a special correspondent for Warner Bros Discovery at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Wierer is a three-time world champion, three-time Olympic bronze medalist, and twice in a row (2019, 2020) winner of the Big Crystal Globe.
