“Changing nationality is not an option” – biathlete Kazakevich

Olympic silver medalist biathlete Irina Kazakevich believes that changing sports citizenship is not a way out of the situation with the withdrawal of Russian athletes from international competitions.

In March, the executive committee of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from tournaments under the auspices of the organization due to the situation in Ukraine.

“Changing citizenship is not an option. I believe that everything will be resolved and we will return to the international stage, so I certainly did not have such thoughts,” Kazakevich quotes Metaratings.ru.

The athlete also told about the joint gathering with a group of skiers Yuri Borodavko in Malinovka.

– We train in the same team, so, of course, we communicate with everyone, but with Alexander Bolshunov not so often. The guys train a lot harder. We are side by side in some strength exercises, and together with the girls and Natalya Nepryaeva we had joint training. Somehow, I managed to hold them back. In cross training you can just run together, discuss some points and share your impressions. Everything is like in a normal team,” added Kazakevich.
