RBU President Maigurov explained how much money biathletes received last season

President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) Viktor Maygurov said that biathletes received 52 million rubles in prize money over the past season.

On Monday, a press conference will be held in Moscow on the results of the 2023/24 biathlon season.

— This season we are paying prize money during competitions. We paid about 52 million rubles to athletes. At the Commonwealth Cup, 42 athletes received them, at the Russian Cup – 70 athletes. We held 81 competitions, including two main starts of the season: Spartakiad and the Russian Championship. At the Spartakiad, the atmosphere was close to that of the World Championship. The results showed that not all leaders are able to cope with psychological pressure. The Spartakiade biathlon tournament was attended by around 72,000 spectators.

The athletes’ training strategy was reflected in the results of the Spartakiad. Six out of eight gold medals were won by those who underwent centralized training within the national team. It is nice to see that young athletes like Yulia Sheler and Evgeniy Sidorov have proven themselves. Training of young people together with experienced athletes has brought results,” reports correspondent, according to Maygurov’s words.
