Biathlete Natalia Shevchenko: “Last season there were a lot of offensive errors”

Russian biathlete Natalia Shevchenko said she made many offensive mistakes during the 2023/24 season.

Following the results of last season, Shevchenko won the overall ranking of the Russian Cup, became third in the Commonwealth Cup, and also took first place in the ranking of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR). The athlete won three victories at the Spartakiad of the Strongest and twice won the Russian championship.

— My favorite race was the “individual” at the Spartakiad of the Strongest. I was really high when I managed to win. But this one misses the last turn… According to the classics. It is always memorable. I’m happy to have managed to put a nice point at the end. In the final race of the season, she shot four zeros and won. This also remains in my memory.

And if we’re talking about mistakes, it was in every race that I was missing something. There were many offensive errors. Somewhere, it was probably missing a few fractions of a second or a single shot. But it’s biathlon, as they say. There’s always a shot missing here, you have to try to concentrate on the race, on the lines, on the shot. Such races add motivation,” quotes Championship Shevchenko.

Shevchenko switched from cross-country skiing to biathlon ahead of the 2022/23 season.
