ISU proposes introducing yellow cards in speed skating

The International Skating Union (ISU) wants to introduce yellow cards in speed skating, according to the ISU Congress agenda.

The congress will take place in Las Vegas (United States) from June 10 to 14.

This issue was submitted for discussion by the ISU technical committee. It is proposed to give a yellow card for violation of the rules for crossing the distance – for more than one offense. A “dangerous” violation of the rules may also be grounds for a yellow card.

A speed skater may receive a yellow card for unsportsmanlike behavior between performances – both after and before the race at the competition venue. Athletes and team officials may receive a yellow card for inappropriate actions or behavior, as determined by competition organizers. The reason may in particular be non-compliance with the instructions of the responsible official.
