Medalist at the World Speed Skating Championships Danila Semerikov has already received a passport from Uzbekistan and intends to play for that country’s national team, a source close to the matter told .
Semerikov, 29, has already informed the Russian Skating Union (SKR) about the decision, but his issue was not discussed at the Russian Skating Union’s May executive committee.
“Danila already has an Uzbek passport,” the source said.
Semerikov is a four-time World Championship bronze medalist, three-time European Championship medalist and six-time Russian champion.
