Austrian luger Madeleine Egle has failed three doping tests and risks being sanctioned, reports Laola1.at with reference to the Tiroler Tageszeitung.
According to the president of the Austrian Luge Association (ÖRV), Markus Prock, the omission of the third test is disputed and the matter is currently being examined by an independent arbitration commission. He emphasized that we are not talking about a positive doping test, but rather whether Egle adequately fulfilled his reporting obligations to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
“We sought legal advice from experts and followed procedures by contacting NADA.” There is no reason for ÖRV to take any action at this time; you have to wait for the end of the current procedure,” Prock said.
If three doping controls are missed, an athlete may be disqualified.
Egle, 25, is a double Olympic medalist in relay, world champion in the same discipline and European champion in singles and relays.
