Lawyer for the six-time biathlon world champion Julie Simon Christian Borel described as false the information according to which the athlete was found guilty in a fraud case.
At the beginning of June, La Stampa, citing the Albertville public prosecutor’s office, reported the closure of the investigation, following which Simone was ordered to pay a fine and damages.
– This information is absolutely false. From a criminal point of view, this is defamation, but we will not file a complaint against the newspaper because my client wants to put this event in the past, but we want to make it clear that this is not not true. My client calmly awaits the results of the trial. Everyone is trying to calm her down,” Borel said, as quoted by Le Parisien.
In July last year, reports emerged that Simon was suspected of bank card fraud. One of the complaints against Simone was filed by her teammate Justine Brezaz-Boucher. This lawsuit states that Simone used her credit card and made purchases amounting to one thousand to two thousand euros, but the athlete denied all accusations.
Simon is a silver medalist at the 2022 Beijing Olympics in the mixed relay.
