The International Luge Federation (FIL) has extended the suspension of Russian athletes from participation in competitions under its auspices, according to the official FIL website.
The decision was taken at the 72nd IDF Congress in Lake Placid, USA. The majority of delegates voted to further exclude Russians.
— The presence of Russian athletes, coaches, instructors and other officials at FIL-sanctioned competitions poses a high risk. This risk concerns the security, peace and integrity of the tournaments and their participants, including Russia itself,” the statement said.
Russian athletes have been suspended from tournaments under the auspices of the FIL since March 2022.
