A working meeting of the leaders of the biathlon federations of Russia and Belarus took place in Moscow – Viktor Maygurov and Andrian Tsibulsky, the SBR press service reports.
The main topic of discussion was the organization of the Union State Open Biathlon Championship, which is scheduled to take place in February 2025.
— The idea of holding an open Union State Championship has been actively discussed by all interested parties for quite a long time. At least since the spring of this year, we have all been working on the draft regulations of this competition, and our meeting today with Andrian Alekseevich (Tsibulsky) contributed to the formation of a unified position of the biathlon federations of the two friendly countries. I hope that in the near future the final regulations of the championship will be officially approved and our calendar for the 2024/25 sports season will take its final form.
“Together we will try to organize a real biathlon holiday for fans of our sport in Russia and Belarus according to the highest standards,” Maygurov was quoted as saying by the RBU press service.
Since spring 2022, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended from competitions organized under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
