The World Curling Federation has announced that the Russians’ suspension will be extended until the end of 2024.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) Council has extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions under the auspices of the organization until the end of 2024, the organization’s press service reports.

Please note that WCF reserves the right to reconsider the decision if necessary.

In March 2022, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, the WCF announced the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. Subsequently, it extended the sanctions twice.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended in March 2023 that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes and only those who have not publicly expressed support for the CWO and are not associated with the armed forces or national security agencies. At the same time, Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in international team sports competitions.
