— In Murmansk, after the mass start, you had a clash with Belarusian Ivan Tulatin. At some point it seemed that there would be a fight. What were your thoughts at that moment?
— Let’s start with the fact that I mistakenly thought that I was third. My first thoughts were joyful, because I decided that I was on the pedestal again. For some reason I did not look at the scoreboard, I see a Belarusian in front of me, and he is built like Anton Smolsky, I overtake him and think that I will finish third, I am happy, and then I feel a strong push in my back. I do not understand what is happening, I see Ivan Tulatin furious and I realize that he is very unhappy with what happened.
But at that moment I knew I was right. And he thought in his head that he couldn’t do anything like that; it was unsportsmanlike behavior on his part. I think I behaved more correctly. But I understand him too. Apparently, he is a very hot-tempered guy by nature, especially since he was doing well. But from a distance, he began to move towards me and followed a mountain course, thereby increasing his surface area, because the skis were in different directions at once and I was taking every step. Basically, he was just unlucky. I could have ended up in the same place, it turned out to be such an unfortunate encounter.

“We did not meet him personally, but he wrote on social networks that he apologized. I replied that there were no problems, I have no grudges, anything can happen in life,” Usov told .
Last season, Usov won the Commonwealth Cup sprint in Murmansk and, together with Natalya Gerbulova, Anastasia Egorova and Eduard Latypov, won bronze in the mixed relay. At the end of the season, the 23-year-old biathlete joined the Russian national team and worked in the group of Sergei Bashkirov.
