“Athletes go to the Olympics to have fun, not to eat worms” – Vasiliev

Double Olympic biathlon champion Dmitri Vassiliev told that athletes go to the Olympic Games to enjoy the sporting festival and not to find worms in their food.

British swimmer, triple Olympic champion Adam Peaty had previously reported that athletes were finding worms in food served at the Olympic Village in Paris. Complaints from British athletes led to the hiring of a chef for the team.

– It’s all sad. Athletes go to the Olympics to have fun, not to eat worms. This is a real holiday not only for sports fans, but also for the athletes themselves. It is very upsetting to see athletes encounter such unpleasant problems with nutrition and organization. For some athletes, this is their only opportunity to attend the Olympics. They will have this impression for the rest of their lives.

“The greatness of the Olympic Games is overshadowed by such problems as the presence of worms in food. The Paris Olympics will go down in history as the most unsuccessful in terms of organization,” Vasilyev told .

Previously, the quality of food in the Olympic Village had been criticised by players of the German national field hockey team and multiple Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles of the United States.

The Olympic Games will end on August 11.
