Artem finished second behind Pidruchnyi in the men’s super sprint at the 2024 Summer World Championships
Ukrainian Artem Tishchenkowho won a silver medal in super sprint on 2024 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Otepää, Estonia, commented on his performance today.
“In general, I did well at the shooting, and at the last line I got caught in a gust of wind, it was very difficult to shoot. Therefore, I think that one miss in that situation is a normal result.”
“I saw Pidruchnyi, who was already entering the final lap, the rivals who were behind and also shooting with errors and entering the penalty area, I heard the announcers’ announcements at the stadium. The coaches on the track said that there was a whole group of rivals following me nearby, so the last lap was quite exhausting for me.”
“I held out, and the weather was good, it was quite a comfortable run today. I’m glad it didn’t rain, because the day before they said the forecast was rainy.”
“To stand on the podium together is very nice, especially considering that the first place was also for Ukraine, for Dima. Our anthem was playing, it was nice, because it doesn’t happen often when two Ukrainians stand on the podium in international biathlon competitions. This is a gift for Ukraine, for our people, let us give everyone at least this note of positivity!”
Let us recall that today’s men’s World Championship super sprint final was a triumph for Ukraine, whose representatives took the top two steps of the podium. Tyshchenko, who missed only one shot at four shooting ranges, lost only to his compatriot, the final champion Dmytro Pidruchnyi.
Tishchenko has won a prize in the super sprint at the Summer Biathlon World Championships for the second year in a row. Let us recall that in 2023, in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia, Artem won a bronze medal in this discipline.
Tomorrow, August 24, four sprint races will be held as part of the 2024 Summer World Championships. The tournament will end on Sunday with junior pursuit races and elite mass starts.
