In the sprint of the first stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Summer Biathlon Cup in Krasnoyarsk, Smolskaya made three mistakes while shooting from the prone position and two from the standing position. — You have five errors in the sprint. What prevented you from showing more accurate shots today?
– You know, there are many factors. And the week before the competition, which I spent without shooting, although I probably should have done so after an unsuccessful shooting at the Belarusian Championship. In addition, we have new cartridges here that have just arrived. Of course, this does not excuse my mistakes, but I understand that every small part is a big result. I was not sure that I was ready to perform and shoot without mistakes today. Probably, all this influenced the result.
It was not very convenient that the shooting took place early. However, I went to the third group so that I could wait a maximum of 20 minutes and start. That is, not to the first group, which rushes to the start in the hustle and bustle, but to have 20 minutes – this is enough to prepare. But it so happened that after the reset, I had more than 50 minutes left before my departure. Of course, this was not part of my plans and probably should have been announced in advance. Everything happened this way, somewhere, perhaps, I could have exhausted myself. In general, it is difficult to single out one thing.
— Why didn’t they shoot a week before the start?
— All the weapons went with the team to Kazakhstan, they held a week-long training camp there, but I didn’t fly there because I was with my son, and it would have been a difficult flight to Kazakhstan and back. And I trained at home. Then I thought that on the contrary, it would be good for me to take a little break from filming. I can’t blame everything, but yes, it could have had an impact too.
— How many days before departure did you arrive in Krasnoyarsk?
— I arrived on the evening of September 3. We slept for one day, we also trained on the fourth without shooting, because the shooting range was still closed, and yesterday we had a day to get used to the new cartridge, since we changed the cartridge here, “Smolskaya told .
