On Friday, the summer biathlon stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup kicked off in Krasnoyarsk. In 2019, the region hosted the Winter Universiade.

— Summer competitions are important for us because the last time the best biathletes came here was at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR. So we want to show that the facility is ready and the infrastructure is still adequate. The second is the preparation of the staff, because it is also important to organize these events. As a result of this event, some technical additions will be needed: additional waxing booths, changing booths in accordance with the SBR technical regulations, etc. We will further refine this in the course of our work. “The summer championship is important for us from the point of view of modernizing the facilities after the Universiade. After everyone learned that we were modernizing the facilities, even polyathletes want to come here with the Russian championship,” Petrovsky told .
