After the race, Serokhvostov told that his working weight is usually 62 kg, but now he weighs 67 kg.
— One of the main topics of the men’s sprint was the weight of Serokhvostov, who gained five kilograms. What can you say about this?
– He is losing weight now. Daniil gained muscle mass and, of course, fat while he was sick. Over the last month, he has lost one and a half kilograms.
— Could this weight hinder him in the sprint?
“He gained one and a half to two kilos of muscle mass. The technique we now want to see from him is quite powerful, so it takes muscle. Operating “in frequency” is not his choice. I gained some muscle, but I probably haven’t had time to train yet. You have to work on muscle mass so that it is effective, and not just like meat, alone.
He had a few periods of downtime due to health issues, he was treated at the beginning of the season, then between training camps, and a little bit at the end of the last training camp. We are now trying to prevent him from getting seriously ill, so that he does not lose his immune system – for me, that is the most important thing right now. We are not thinking about the result when it comes to this. The main thing is that he can now train fully for a sufficiently long period.
— Can we say that this weight gain will help him in the season?
– Without a doubt. He has a powerful running style, that is, a long stride and, accordingly, you have to push. Today, the muscular component simply sank, because he missed a week, and anyway, we did not do speed work – we had only one such workout now, and he had it in a different format.
– Why did he miss a week?
“At the end of the last training camp he got sick and we moved him to a preferential training regimen, we completely removed the intensity and he missed several days,” Kaminsky told .
On Saturday, men’s and women’s pursuit races will take place in Krasnoyarsk.
