Winner of the overall standings of the Russian Biathlon Cup Natalia Shevchenko On , she spoke about how her feelings changed during training and racing after her surgery in the spring.
In May, Shevchenko underwent surgery to correct her vision. On Saturday, at the summer biathlon stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup in Krasnoyarsk, Shevchenko finished sixth in the pursuit race, making two mistakes and losing more than two minutes to the winner, Anastasia Shevchenko.
“I’m slowly coming back to my senses, and I missed a lot of things this summer because of eye surgery. I just had a little “minus”, I had vision correction. It’s a standard operation, nothing complicated. I had to skip May and June.
The first month was spent preparing for the operation: I had to pass a lot of tests, not train and walk without lenses and glasses for at least two weeks. After the operation, I could not stress for a month. Now the eye is a diamond. But I will say that for now the eyes are adapting to the new perception. It is completely different, the lenses are still uncomfortable, every morning you put them in, every evening you take them off. They dry out and so on. In terms of comfort, it is much better now. I am gradually adapting to filming. Previously, in lenses, the eye focused only on the target, basically, but now on everything. It takes time to adapt, ”Shevchenko said on .
Later on Saturday, the men’s pursuit of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage will take place in Krasnoyarsk. Watch the live broadcast of the race on channel from 11:55 (Moscow time), as well as on sportbox.ru and matchtv.ru.
